The Holiday Food and
Gift Basket
The Holiday Food and Gift Basket (HFGB) program provides food gift cards in November and holiday gifts in December to low income families, seniors, and adult singles living in the Oak Park and River Forest communities. In 2011, the HFGB provided assistance at the holidays to 950 households referred by schools, churches, social service organizations and both townships. These households represent more than 2,200 individuals.
The program is funded in part by a grant from Youth Services of Oak Park and River Forest Townships along with financial donations from organizations and individuals throughout our communities. In addition, more than 400 individuals and groups sponsored families seeking assistance through local social service programs.

Monetary contributions are always welcome to help fund the food
gift cards, which are provided to each referred household in November.

Join Our Mailing List
In 2012 the HFGB will need volunteers to organize and deliver gifts. We will also need sponsors to purchase and wrap gifts for the referred families and individuals. If you would like to be on our mailing list to receive information for next year please email holidaybasket@hotmail.com. Thank you!
