Our Actions

We gather together:

  • to raise our collective moral voice for the most vulnerable
  • to affirm the importance of a pluralistic society
  • to foster greater understanding among diverse peoples
  • and to cultivate compassion and equity

We gather for short term and long term activities to serve vulnerable members of our wider community. among us.

Community services originally began with us, including:

We raised over $50,000 and distributed food by partnering with Top Box Foods and New Mt Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in West Garfield Park to provide some relief to those suffering most in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 10,000 meals and 1,200 “personal care kits” (i.e., bags containing masks, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste) to help people protect themselves from the spread of Covid were distributed over a six month period.

We gathered hundreds in a Multifaith Vigil to assert that Black lives are precious in the sight of God and raise prayers for justice and for comfort for
those most impacted by the realities of racism and white supremacy. We called on our local public officials to enact reform to advance racial equity in our villages, particularly as it relates to policing and housing.

We organized a multifaith, virtual service of liturgy and prayer to honor the memories and hold the grief over all who died in the global pandemic.
Community members offered names of loved ones who died during this time of sheltering in place, regardless of the cause of death or their location in the world, and faith leaders offered prayers, music, and comfort as the names were read.

We mobilized many people of faith to convince officials in Oak Park and River Forest to make our communities truly sanctuary cities to protect
undocumented people in our midst.
