Our Stories

We believe the way to strengthen our community is to bring people together in learning the stories of others who share our community. Not only do we cultivate greater understanding of others, but we discover who shares our commitments and who we can work together with as fellow people of faith and people of compassion.

While there is no substitute for getting to know another in person, stories can provide hope and renewed courage. We share the following stories to cultivate resilience, understanding, and compassion.

For a great introduction to interfaith stories from the Oak Park-River Forest Community, please read Tom Holmes’ The Soul of a Liberal Village: The Variety of Religious Experience in Oak Park, Illinois (2017).

Unity in Community
